What to ask when you call
- Not all licensed daycares accept the subsidy — always confirm before applying
- Call or email the provider to ask: "Are you currently accepting new families on the subsidy?"
- Ask if there's a wait for subsidy spots — some providers have subsidy waitlists even if they accept the program
- Once approved, your authorization is tied to a specific provider — changing providers requires notifying your caseworker
- Licensed family childcare in BC can include relatives if they are licensed as family childcare providers, do not live in the child's household, and meet all licensing requirements.
